Welcome to Podcasting Over 50 and FAQ Friday, where I answer a podcasting question in 5 minutes or less! Today's question is... How long does it take to launch a podcast?
This question comes from Linda, who goes on to say that she’s thinking about starting a podcast but isn’t sure about the time commitment to get up and running. Thanks for being here, Linda!
If you guessed that my answer to the question is, “it depends”, you’re right! haha! But truly, it can go as quickly or slowly as you’d like. I’d say that the AVERAGE time to launch is about 8 weeks.
Now, it can absolutely happen faster than that. One of my students, Beth, launched her show in just 4 days. She was highly motivated, set a deadline, made her decisions quickly, and she got it DONE.
It can also take longer… if you’re in a particularly busy season, are a chronic overthinker, or are trying to figure out all of the pieces without a teacher or guide.
But for most business owners, 8 weeks is the sweet spot.
It’s enough time to make the strategic decisions that will help the RIGHT listeners find your show. But it’s not SO long that you lose momentum and stay stuck in planning mode, without ever taking any action.
As someone who cares about strategy and making a good first impression, but who also overthinks everything, striking the right balance is important.
So here's the approach I teach... make each decision at about 80% clarity and lock it in for now. Done is better than perfect. A good decision TODAY beats a perfect decision YEARS down the road.
The 50+ Podcasters Launch Club was designed with the Fearless Framework, a launch plan that walks you through each decision, step-by-step so that nothing gets missed, and nothing gets overthought. You can find all the details at ThePodcastTeacher.com/club.
And, if you have a podcasting question, submit it at ThePodcastTeacher.com/question and I'll answer it on a future FAQ Friday! Until next time, happy podcasting!
