99. Where Can I Advertise My Podcast? | Podcasting Ads and Promotions

Julia Levine | Podcasting Coach for Online Business (The Podcast Teacher™)

Welcome to Podcasting for Solopreneurs and FAQ Friday, where I answer a podcasting question in 5 minutes or less!

Today’s question is….Where Can I Advertise My Podcast? | Podcasting Ads and Promotions. This question was submitted by an anonymous listener. Hey there, and thanks for being a fan of the show!

Paid advertising can be a great shortcut to getting new listeners, but of course, it requires a budget in order to do so. If you’re at a point to invest in this, I’m going to break paid advertising down into 3 categories - Facebook Ads, Banner Ads, and Audio Ads.

Kicking things off with Facebook ads, you might not have thought to use this to advertise your podcast, but I have done this with successful results. Whether you’re already familiar with Facebook Ads or not, there’s a specific strategy involved that works well for getting people specifically to your podcast. I worked with Megan Shields inside her Podcast Audience Amplifier program to learn everything that I know and I highly recommend it. I’ll leave my partner link in the description.

The next category is Banner ads. Banner ads are within 3rd-party podcast apps. So, not Apple or Spotify, but places like Overcast - shout out to all of my listeners on Overcast! As well as Podcast Addict, PocketCasts, and Podbay.

These banner ads appear as a banner in the podcast player, advertising your podcast while the user is listening to another podcast. The players all have different options in terms of which podcasts your banner appears on top of, how many days your banner runs, and of course, the price point.

I have personally run ads on Overcast and Podcast Addict, and I prefer Overcast.

I’ll leave links to the ads pages for all of these in the episode description.

And finally, that brings us to audio ads. This is where you record an audio advertisement and it plays within another podcast. Two popular platforms for this are Spotify and Buzzsprout. I have not yet tried these myself.

So, as you can see, there are a lot of options! I am in the process of experimenting with some of the options that are new to me, and I’ll be doing a deep dive into each one inside my new community, the Podcast Growth Collective, which is launching in April 2025. Head to ThePodcastTeacher.com/collective if you want more info!
